Behind Matcha Made Learning
Curious by Nature, Purpose-Driven by Choice
I’m Hannah — an authentic, resourceful, and endlessly curious creative who works best in focused sprints with a clean space and a clear plan. I’ve always loved learning — not just for the sake of collecting knowledge, but for finding purpose in it. When something connects to a bigger “why,” I dive all in. That mindset led me to instructional design, where I can combine curiosity with real impact — teaching people new skills through creative, interactive experiences that actually make sense in the real world.
Learning That Feels Like Discovery
I feel most aligned when I’m creating interactive experiences or games that guide learners to discover answers for themselves. My goal is to move learning beyond the “click next” routine and into something more like play — where curiosity takes the lead, but learning still sticks. I love taking a flat piece of content and dreaming up creative, hands-on ways to make it come alive — then seeing it all click for the learner at the end.
My Process: Action + Intention
My approach blends creativity with structure. I start with an action map and build backward, designing the learner’s journey before polishing visuals and mood boards. My process is rooted in reality-based learning and learning by doing— because the best way to learn something is to actually experience it. People I work with often describe me as a strong communicator and natural leader who keeps projects organized while still leaving space for creativity.
From Business Owner to Learning Designer
Before stepping into instructional design, I spent years running a bookkeeping business that I sold in 2020 and still own a construction company with my husband. Training employees in those roles shaped how I think about learning — I saw firsthand that real understanding comes from letting people try, make mistakes, and problem-solve with subtle guidance, not just instruction. That experience drives how I design: I want learners to get it, not just see it.
I’m especially passionate about building learning that helps workforce programs, vocational schools, and small businesses thrive — and I hope to one day expand my work to help autistic teens and adults learn life and business skills that lead to independence. My business background gives me an inside perspective that helps me design for real-world impact, not just theory.
Beyond the Screen
Outside of work, I’m a mom to three kids — two boys and a girl — and a big believer in slow mornings, family camping trips, and holiday traditions. My one splurge is a really good matcha latte — the kind that gives you that calm, focused energy I try to bring into every project. When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me tinkering with new software, exploring how AI can make learning more human, or researching some new rabbit hole just for fun.
